Fitting the trim takes no drilling; it installs directly over the existing surface, and QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. The bond is to paint, so the door's finish needs to be in good shape. Repair chips, peeling or hazy clear coat and bubbles beforehand, and make sure the door closes flush.
Clean the door with soap and water, rinse, dry fully, and wipe it with a degreaser. With the liner on, place the trim on the closed door, shift it until the visible paint all around is even, and fix that spot with painter's tape. The polished 304 face gives a bright, reflective finish, and the 26 gauge sheet keeps it slim against the door. Pick dry, mild weather for the install and let the tape set overnight before washing. Afterward, use mild soap and a soft cloth, and wipe away any fuel drips after filling.
