What they are. The covers are cosmetic trim for the posts next to the side windows. They don't affect the doors, the glass or the weatherstrip. Type 304 stainless owes its corrosion resistance to the alloy, not to plating.
How they're fixed. 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape bonds each cover over the finish your Sebring's posts already have. There's no drilling and no trim removal. The Installation tab lists the temperature range and cure time.
Preparing the posts. The tape bonds to the outermost layer, so that layer needs to be in good shape. Remove wax and polish, and repair chalking, crazing or lifting paint first. Wash with car soap, rinse, let the posts dry thoroughly, and wipe each with rubbing alcohol on lint-free cloths until a clean fold picks up nothing. Look for dings as you clean; polished steel will show them.
For the job: car soap and a bucket, rubbing alcohol, a good supply of lint-free cloths, painter's tape, a pencil, and a helper for judging lines from a few steps away.
Step by step. Choose shade and a still, dry day. Check the six against the gallery and contact us about any that are damaged or missing. Write the post name for each cover on a strip of painter's tape, based on its photo. Liner on, hold a cover to its post and slide it until the gap is even on every side, then tape around it. Peel the liner, set it within the tape and press firmly along the full length and both edges. Look it over from the side and the front before reaching for the next cover.
If one won't settle. A cover that stands proud or rocks should keep its liner while you call 877-752-3811. Once the tape has cured, wash the six with car soap and dry them with a soft towel.
