The tape sticks to whatever finish the posts carry, so that finish sets the limit. Check every post with fingertip and eye. Dusty chalking, crazing, an edge that's lifted or a waxy film: remove or repair it. Then wash, rinse, dry, and wipe with rubbing alcohol on lint-free cloths until one comes away white. Use a step stool if the upper edges are hard to see from the ground.
Bring along a bucket, car soap, rubbing alcohol, lint-free cloths, painter's tape and a pencil, and recruit someone to stand back and call out alignment while you hold each cover in place.
Choose a calm, dry day in the shade. Check the six covers against the photos and phone about anything bent or missing. The GL Class images show where the six covers sit. With liners on, offer each up, adjust until the reveal is equal, and outline in painter's tape; get all six outlined before you peel. Then work one at a time, peeling, setting each cover into its outline, and pressing firmly along its length and both edges. Stand back every couple of covers.
Should one of the six sit high at an end, leave its backing alone and ring 877-752-3811 first. Past the cure time, the SUV's covers are washed with car soap during the normal wash and dried with a soft towel.
