Before you peel anything. Gather low-tack painter's tape, a pencil, rubbing alcohol, a bucket of soapy water and plenty of lint-free cloths. Clear every post of wax and polish. Deal with paint that's powdery, cracked or peeling, because the tape won't hold better than the coat under it. Wash, rinse and dry thoroughly, then wipe each post with rubbing alcohol until a fresh fold of cloth shows nothing, and feel for dents.
Fitting, step by step. Work out of the sun on a dry, still day. Unpack the six on a clean towel and check them against the photos, reporting any damage straight away. Mark a numbered strip of painter's tape at each post for its cover. For the first cover, keep the liner on, offer it up gently, move it until the margin is even all round and box it in with tape. Remove the liner, place the cover inside the box and press hard across its face and down both edges. Step back, check the margin is still even and both edges are pressed flat, then do the next.
