Product Description
Lincoln Town Car 1998-2011 Polished Stainless Gas Door Trim (GC38680)
Fourteen model years of the Lincoln Town Car 4-door sedan, from 1998 to 2011, share this fuel door accent. GC38680 is one piece of 304 stainless steel, 26 gauge and polished, made in the USA, and mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape.
Bring your own gas door
That is, the one already on the car. GC38680 is not a replacement cap and not a replacement part, and you MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece.
The row
Lincoln Town Car, 1998-2011, 4-door sedan. It's the only row on the Fitment tab.
Rockers: sedan versus limousine
The rocker listings on this sheet come in two heights and one stretched version:
TH38680 is an eight-piece lower kit for the sedan, 4.5 inches, spanning from the bottom of the door up to the specified width.
TH38683 is an eight-piece upper kit for the sedan, 8.25 inches, spanning from the bottom of the molding down to the specified width.
TH38677 is a ten-piece lower kit, 4.5 inches, listed for a limousine with a 44" stretch.
Lower and upper kits sit in different places, so they aren't interchangeable; the photos show where each goes. Note that this gas door piece is listed for the sedan only. If you're fitting out a stretched car, call to confirm the gas door trim.
Pillars
PP38680 has four pieces and PP38681 has six. QAA doesn't describe the additional pair.
Attachment
It installs directly over the existing surface, with nothing drilled. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle.
Looking at the paint
Because the adhesive bonds to the paint, its condition decides how well the trim holds. On a Town Car that may have many years behind it, look for fading, thin edges from polishing, lifting clear coat, or bubbling. Repair anything doubtful first. The door should also latch and sit flush.
Getting it on
Clean with soap and water, rinse, and degrease until the cloth comes away clean. Dry. Close the door and set the trim on it, liner attached, sliding it until the band of paint is even all around; a second person watching from a few steps away helps. Mark the body with painter's tape. Peel, place, and press hard across the whole face. A minute later, press again. Swing the door open slowly to check it clears. See the Installation tab for more.
Why start with the fuel door
The rocker kits are eight or ten pieces each and take careful work along the whole side. The gas door trim is one flat part with no second piece to match. It's a quick, low-stakes way to see the polished finish on your Town Car before planning the bigger jobs.
Order check
Town Car sedan, 1998-2011, gas door intact and closing flush.
Steel
Polished 304 stainless, bright and reflective; 26 gauge keeps it thin.
Weather and upkeep
Mild, dry day; dry overnight. Gentle soap and a soft cloth afterward, plus a wipe if fuel splashes on it.

Installation tips: Gas Door Cover Trim
- Confirm your vehicle still has its original gas door. This trim mounts over it and does not replace it.
- Unpack the piece and hold it in position to confirm the fit before mounting it.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Step back and check alignment before pressing along the full length of the piece.
These are general tips. Follow any instructions packed with your kit if they differ.
