Step by step
- Wash and rinse the fuel door face.
- Degrease to remove old wax; let it dry.
- Dry-fit the trim on the closed door with the liner on.
- Even out the border on all sides and mark the body with painter's tape.
- Peel, align, and press firmly over the whole face, then again after a minute.
- Open the door slowly once to confirm it clears.

On a small part, a slightly crooked border is what people notice. Have a helper hold the trim while you step back and look. Adjust in small moves before peeling.
Why stainless on the fuel door
Polished 304 stainless gives a bright, mirror-like accent to a panel that's otherwise body color. At 26 gauge it's thin sheet, so the door barely gets thicker. And since it's one flat part, it's the simplest trim job there is.
