Check the slider first
With both pieces taped in place and liners still on, open and close the slider through its full travel. Nothing should catch or rub. If something does, stop and call before peeling.
Clean the mounting areas
Wash and dry the back of the cab. Wipe each area with a residue-free cleaner, several passes, fresh cloth every time, until nothing comes off. Don't use glass cleaner there just before installing.
Lay them on
Mark each outline in painter's tape, measured from the same kind of landmark. Peel one liner, press the piece on end to end, and repeat. Rub firmly along every edge. Cool, dry, shaded conditions are best; the Installation tab has more.
Why stainless behind the cab
The rear window sits right above the bed. Ladders, lumber and tie-down hooks come close. Polished 304 has no plating, so scuffs show the same steel and can be polished out.
When to install
Wait for a mild, dry day, and work where the back of the cab isn't in direct sun. Warm, damp or dusty surfaces all reduce the tape's first grab. Give each cleaned spot a few minutes to dry, and keep fingers off the adhesive side once the liner is off.
Light duty or heavy duty
Because the 2500 is named alongside the 1500, owners of either can order. The data doesn't separate cab styles beyond 2-door and 4-door.
Care
No washing for a few days; then mild soap and a soft cloth. Go easy with the slider at first.
