Construction

Dry-fit the whole side

Cleaning
Soap and water, a full rinse, then isopropyl alcohol across the band, working in arm-length sections and switching to a fresh cloth whenever the old one shows any grey. A long side hides more residue than you'd expect, especially low down near the door bottoms. Older paint should get a quick adhesion test with painter's tape. Fix anything that lifts.
Mounting
Work outward from the center of the side. Peel a little liner, align against the molding, press firmly along the length, then move to the next piece. Check door operation as you go.
