Paint prep on an older SUV
Lower doors on an SUV of this age take years of spray and stone hits. Touch up chips and let them cure. Polish dull paint until it's firm. Then wash, dry and wipe the bottom three or four inches of each door with isopropyl alcohol, giving the very edge close attention.
Placing each piece
Match pieces to doors by length and shape; the listing doesn't label them. With the liner on, seat the lower edge on the bottom of the door, gently close the door to check the ends, and look along the side to see the front and rear pieces line up. Then peel and press a few inches at a time, pressing across the full two inches.
Keeping it even
As you go, check each piece against the ones already fitted, from the front and rear of the SUV, before pressing it down.

Warm and dry; about a day before washing. Stay out of deep puddles for that first day, and if the SUV has been sitting outside on a cold morning, let it warm in a garage before you start.
Care
Rinse salt and grit off the lower doors, and use a non-abrasive polish on the steel. Dry it with a soft towel after washing.
