A careful install on narrow strips
Thin strips show any wander, so take your time lining them up. Wash the moldings, dry them, and wipe them with rubbing alcohol, letting it evaporate completely. Lay all four strips out and write the position on each liner. Hold one strip on its molding with the liner still attached, nudge it until the gap to each edge of the molding looks even, and mark the ends with painter's tape. Peel the liner, place the strip on the marks, and press firmly along its whole length. Repeat for the rest. Before pressing the last one, look down the side of the hatchback to make sure the strips form a straight line from front to back.
