Chalky residue, fine crazing, a corner beginning to lift or a waxy layer should be fixed before anything else. Then wash, rinse and let the posts dry completely, and wipe each with rubbing alcohol on a lint-free cloth, taking a fresh cloth until one comes away clean.
You'll want car soap and a bucket, rubbing alcohol, a handful of lint-free cloths, painter's tape and a pencil, plus a helper standing off the sedan's flank to compare the covers.
Choose a dry, calm day and work in shade. Check the four covers against their photos and phone us if one is bent or missing. Use the XF photos to see which spot each cover takes. With the backing still on, rest a cover on its post, move it until the gap around it is even, and fence it with painter's tape. Peel, lower the cover inside the fence, and press firmly from end to end and along both edges. Fit the next cover right away.
Any cover that won't lie flat keeps its backing while you ring 877-752-3811. After curing, wash the covers with the rest of the XF and dry them with a soft towel. Allow an unhurried session, most of it cleaning.
