Rocker strip or molding insert?
The XF has two linked rocker-area kits. TH29099 is a six-piece Insert Kit tied to the side molding, tapered between 1.5" and 0.75". TH29098 skips the molding and goes on the rocker below the doors. They're in different places; if you want both, call 877-752-3811 to ask how they look together.

Material
On the XF, the steel is 26 gauge 304 stainless in a polished finish, made in the USA. 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape bonds it over the current rocker paint, and QAA says the bond lasts a lifetime with no harm to what's underneath.

The surface
Look at the rocker under each door, an inch and a quarter up from its lower edge. Repair any chips, scrapes or curb marks before the trim goes on.
Prep
Wash, clay to remove bonded grit, and degrease with isopropyl alcohol in two or three passes.
Guide and placement
Set a painter's tape guide along the rocker, measured from the lower edge. Have a helper hold the far end while you place the start. Check the line from the front corner of the car, then peel a few inches at a time and press.

Supplies
On the XF, clean the rocker with soap and a clay bar, fill chips with touch-up paint, prep with alcohol on lint-free cloths, and mark the line with painter's tape and a tape measure.

An hour after you finish, press both pieces again along their full length with a soft cloth, especially at the ends.
