Preparation decides how well tape holds, so take your time here. Wash the pillars by hand with a gentle car soap, rinse and towel them dry. Follow with a wipe of isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth, and let it flash off. If there's wax, sealant or a ceramic coating on the pillars, remove it where the covers will sit.
For the install, keep every liner on at first. Hold a cover to a pillar and sight along both edges until it follows the post without rocking. Mark each end with a short strip of painter's tape and write the door on the liner. Do all four that way. Then peel one liner, lay the cover between its marks and press firmly from end to end and along both edges. Fit the next cover, and step back to compare. Work on a dry day in shade or a garage. A helper a few paces back is handy for judging level, and a step stool makes the upper ends easier to press.
