PP14046: Six Polished Stainless Pillar Covers for the 2014-2017 QX70

What you'll need. A bucket and mild car soap, two clean towels, isopropyl alcohol, a lint-free cloth, painter's tape, a pencil and a step stool for the tops of the pillars. A second person helps but isn't required.
Cleaning. Wash the pillars, rinse off every trace of soap and dry them. Wipe with the alcohol and let it flash off. If the QX70 has been waxed or coated, take that off where the tape will sit, since tape grips whatever layer is on top.
Mapping. Lay out the six covers as the photos show. Beginning at a front post, offer each cover up to its pillar with the liner still on. Sight along its edges; it should hug the post evenly. Mark both ends with painter's tape and write the spot on the liner. Finish the mapping so every cover is checked against the photos.
Pressing. Peel one liner, place the cover between its marks, and press firmly from end to end and along each edge. Go straight to the next post. Pause every couple of QX70 covers and look at them from a distance. If a cover refuses to sit flush, keep its liner on and try another pillar. Weather. Dry and mild, out of direct sun. A hot panel or damp air works against the tape, and shade lets the alcohol dry evenly.
Reading the photos. Comparing the two QX70 galleries, count the covers shown and how many different shapes appear. Then hold that up against your own QX70's window line. If you can't tell which set covers a particular post, a quick call settles it.
