Product Description
Kia Sportage 2011-2016 Lower Rocker Strips, 1.25" Wide, Set of Two (TH11836)
TH11836 puts a clean polished stainless line on the rocker of a 2011 through 2016 Kia Sportage. The set is two pieces, each 1.25" wide, and QAA's one-line placement note reads "Installs below the door." It's the plainer of the two Sportage rocker panel parts QAA links: a flat-described strip down low, where the companion insert kit has a taper and a crease and sits higher up.
Comparing the two Sportage kits
TH11836: two pieces, 1.25", on the rocker below the door. TH11835: six pieces, 2.625" to 3" tapered with a trim crease, an Insert Kit at the side molding. Different locations, different widths. Whether you want the low line, the higher molding insert, or both is a matter of looks; the photos of each are the best way to decide.
Years covered
Kia Sportage 4-door SUV: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Check your rocker
Kneel beside the SUV and find a smooth band on the rocker, at least 1.25" tall, running under the doors. The record gives no length, so use the photos to judge where each strip starts and stops. If the surface there is textured or dented, call before ordering.
What it's made from
Sportage material: polished 26 gauge 304 stainless steel, made in the USA.
Attachment
The two 1.25" Sportage strips go directly over the existing surface with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape. Per QAA, the tape will hold for a lifetime and won't mark the Kia.
Getting the grime off
An SUV's rockers catch spray from the front tires all year. Use a soft brush and soapy water, then rinse and dry. A tar remover handles black spots; wash again afterward. Finish with isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth along the whole path of the strip.
Lining it up
Measure the same distance up from the bottom of the rocker at both ends of the run and connect the marks with a strip of painter's tape. That's your guide. Hold the strip against it with the liner on, step back, and look from the front and the side.
Pressing it on
Peel a short section of liner and anchor the front end. Continue toward the rear, peeling and pressing. Then go over the whole strip with firm pressure from a soft cloth. Measure the other strip from the same kind of reference and compare it with the photos.
Side by side
The record doesn't say where each of the two strips goes; confirm with the photos.
First day
Don't wash for about a day, and keep out of deep puddles. Warm weather helps the bond.
Linked Sportage trim
PP11835, PP11836 and PP11837 pillar kits; WP11835 and WP11836 window packages; RD11835 deck accent w1.75; and SGB11835 grille accent. Check each listing for its finish.
Care
Mild soap, a soft cloth, and a rinse after winter drives. If the strips dull over time, a non-abrasive polish brings the shine back without scratching.

Installation tips: Rocker Panel Trim, On the rocker
- Unpack all 2 pieces and match each one to its position on the vehicle, using the product photos, before fitting any of them.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Fit one piece at a time and compare each with the product photos and the pieces already in place.
These are general tips. Follow any instructions packed with your kit if they differ.
