Setting a level line
Measure up from the bottom of the rocker at the front and rear of the run and mark both with painter's tape. Stretch a guide line of tape between the marks. Hold the strip against it with the liner on and check it from the front of the car and from the side.
Sticking it down
Anchor one end, then peel the liner in short sections, pressing as you move along. Press the full length again with a soft cloth when you reach the end. Measure the other strip's height from the same kind of reference so both sit level.

Soapy water and a soft brush, isopropyl alcohol, lint-free cloths, painter's tape and a tape measure. No special tools; a helper to sight down the car while you hold the strip is useful but not required.
Patience
