Preparing a narrow band
At 0.5", each piece has a small tape area, so every millimetre of the band needs to be clean. Rinse each opening, wash with shampoo and a soft mitt, rinse, dry and let it drain. Run a lamp along the band, checking for wax, old adhesive and chips, and remove each one. With no gasket to hide anything, check the very edge of the opening too. Wax-and-grease remover across the band, then isopropyl alcohol immediately before each piece.
Fitting without gasket
- Mark each liner by corner from the photos.
- Tape the first piece in place with the liner on and look at the gap between its stainless edge and the opening; it should match the photos all along.
- Peel a short length at one end and press firmly.
- Work round in short steps, keeping that edge line even.
- Press the full length again before the next piece.
Arrival and care
Count four pieces on arrival and check the edges for bends. After fitting, a day before washing; then mild soap and a soft cloth, never pressure-washer spray at the stainless edges.
