Material
The narrow Mustang strips are cut in the USA from polished 26 gauge 304 stainless steel and fixed over the existing surface with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape. According to QAA, that tape will hold for a lifetime without harming the Ford.
Preparing for a 0.25" strip
A quarter-inch piece leaves very little tape on the paint, so the band it sits on has to be spotless. After washing and drying each arch, mark the line with painter's tape just outside where the strip will go. Inside that line, go over the paint with a fingertip feeling for any roughness. Old adhesive, wax and chip edges all have to go. Wax-and-grease remover, then isopropyl alcohol just before fitting, applied with a narrow fold of cloth so you stay within the band.
Fitting the narrow pieces
With no gasket to guide you, the photos and your marker tape set the position. Hold each strip in place on its liner with small tabs of painter's tape, and check that it follows the curve of the opening at an even distance along its length. Peel only a short length at a time and press it down with a fingertip; a narrow strip is easy to push off line with the whole thumb. When done, run a fingertip firmly along the whole piece and remove the marker tape. Another opening comes next.
