Fitting the kit
QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. Wash the tailgate handle area, degrease it and let it dry. Dry-fit all three pieces and mark their positions with painter's tape. Then press each firmly along every edge. The Installation tab has full instructions.
Why the tailgate
The tailgate handle sits dead center on the Silverado, just where people look as they walk up behind it. It is also the handle you grab every time you load or unload the bed. A chrome cover there is a small part that changes how the whole rear view reads, and it takes very little time to fit.
After the install
Leave the tailgate closed and keep the truck dry overnight. Avoid slamming the gate for the first day. Clean the chrome later with mild soap and a soft towel rather than abrasive pads.
