Peel the liner, line the trim up with the tape, and place it in one movement rather than sliding it into position. Press firmly across the face and along the edges, wait a minute, then press again. The polished 304 finish is a bright, reflective accent, and the thin 26 gauge sheet barely changes the door's thickness, so the G8's door closes flush as it did before.
For the tape to set well, work on a mild, dry day and keep the car out of the rain overnight. Afterward, wash it gently with mild soap and a soft cloth, and wipe up fuel splashes when you fill up.
