GC50670 installs directly over the existing surface, with no drilling. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. Tape can only hold to paint that's holding itself, so inspect the door for faded or peeling clear coat, chipped edges, and bubbles, and repair them before installing. Check that the door shuts flush.
Installation
Clean the door with soap and water, rinse, dry, and degrease. With the liner still on, place the trim on the closed door and adjust until the paint showing around it is even all the way round; mark that spot with painter's tape. Then peel, place, and press firmly over the whole face, repeating after a minute. Open the door slowly to make sure nothing rubs. The Installation tab covers it in detail.
Finish and care
Polished 304 stainless is bright and reflective; 26 gauge keeps it thin. Install on a mild, dry day and let the tape set overnight. Clean gently with mild soap and a soft cloth, and wipe away fuel drips.
