Eight model years of the Nissan Maxima 4-door sedan, from 2016 through 2023, share GC16540. It's one piece of mirror-polished 304 stainless steel at 26 gauge, made in the USA, that covers the outside of the fuel door. The it mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape.
Gas door required
GC16540 is not a replacement cap and not a replacement part. You MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece. The trim mounts to that door; the cap and filler stay as they are.

Before installing

Installation
Wash the door face, rinse, wipe with degreaser, and dry. With the door closed, test-fit the trim, liner still on, and center it so the margin is even. Mark the position on the body with painter's tape. Peel the liner, align with the mark, and press firmly over the full surface. Press again after a minute. Weather tips
Pick a dry day with mild temperatures. Keep the area dry overnight to let the tape settle.
Upkeep
Wash with mild soap and a soft cloth. Wipe up any fuel that drips during a fill-up.

Window packages take some planning and patience. The gas door piece doesn't. It's independent of the window choice, so you can install it now and see the polished finish on your paint while you decide between the full package and separate pieces.
Small piece, careful eye
Because the fuel door is small, even a slight tilt is noticeable. After the dry fit, step back several feet and look at the trim from straight on and from an angle toward the rear of the car. If one side of the border looks wider than the other, adjust before you peel. Having a second person hold it while you look helps.
