Product Description
Nissan Maxima 2016-2023 Four-Piece Pillar Post Trim (PP16540)
PP16540 is a four-piece set of polished stainless pillar covers for the 2016-2023 Nissan Maxima 4-door sedan. Before you order it, look at the two window trim packages on the same sheet, because one of them already includes pillar posts and the other is built to go with a pillar set like this one.
Pillar set or window package?
The Maxima sheet lists:
- WP16540, a ten-piece window trim package noted "Includes Upper Trim and Pillar Posts."
- WP16541, a four-piece window trim package noted "Includes Upper Trim only, NO Pillar Posts."
- This set, PP16540, with four pillar covers, and PP16541 with six.
WP16540 already has pillar posts, so ordering this set with it could leave two sets of pillar covers; call before ordering both. WP16541 says it has no pillar posts, which makes it the natural partner if you want upper window trim and pillar covers together. The catalog doesn't say which of the two pillar sets matches WP16541 best, so check the photos or ring Quality Automotive Trims at 877-752-3811 with PP16540.
Four or six
The two Maxima pillar sets have four and six pieces. Neither listing has notes, and neither names the pillars it covers, so the count is the only stated difference. Compare their galleries side by side and look for shapes that appear in one and not the other. Pick one Maxima listing, and compare galleries before a second. At $56.99, the four-piece is the smaller job and spend.
Fitment
One row: Nissan Maxima, 2016 through 2023, 4-door, Sedan. That's eight model years. Check yours on the registration, and call about anything outside that row before ordering.
Construction and mounting
Each cover is 26 gauge 304 stainless steel with a polished finish, made in the USA. It mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape directly over the existing surface. No drilling, no panels removed.
Other Maxima parts
GC16540 is a one-piece gas door cover trim and RW16540 is a two-piece rear window trim, both for the same sedan.
What pillar posts are
Pillar posts are the upright panels between and beside the side windows. A stainless pillar cover is a thin, shaped piece that bonds to the face of one, giving it a polished finish while leaving the structure untouched.
Prep
Wash the pillar areas with car shampoo, rinse and dry. Wipe each spot with isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth and let it evaporate. Remove any wax or sealant where tape will sit.
Fitting
Check each cover against the photos and keep the liners on while you test-fit. Hold each one up, check that the edges follow the pillar, and mark its place with painter's tape. If you're installing a window package too, dry-fit everything together first so you can see how the pieces sit next to each other. Then peel and press one cover at a time, firmly along its length and both edges. The Installation tab lists the temperature range and cure time.
Unsure about any piece? Leave the liner on and call 877-752-3811.

Installation tips: Pillar Post Trim
- Unpack all 4 pieces and match each one to its position on the vehicle, using the product photos, before fitting any of them.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Fit one piece at a time and compare each with the product photos and the pieces already in place.
These are general tips. Follow any instructions packed with your kit if they differ.
