Draw an arrow on the liner pointing toward the wide end. That arrow saves you from setting a piece backward, which is the one mistake you can't undo cleanly with foam tape.

The install
With the moldings clean and dry, dry-fit each strip with its liner on and mark both ends with painter's tape. Peel, align to the marks with the arrow pointing the right way, and press firmly from the wide end to the narrow end. Fit two, step back to check the line, then do the other two.
