Eight posts, each needing a sound, clean coat. Strip wax, polish and any sealant, and repair chalking, crazed or flaking paint, as the tape can only be as firm as that layer. Wash with car soap, rinse and dry completely. Finish each post with rubbing alcohol on lint-free cloth, refolding until the cloth shows nothing, and feel for dents.
Gather a full roll of low-tack painter's tape, a soft pencil, rubbing alcohol, a bucket of car-soap water and a deep pile of lint-free cloths. A second person standing back makes eight alignments much easier, and a step stool helps with the upper ends.
Wait for a windless, dry day and park in shade. Check the eight against the gallery and tell us about any damage or shortfall. Number every post on painter's tape. In order and with liners on, hold a cover to its post, shift it until the gap at each edge matches and frame it with tape. Peel, place it in the frame and press firmly over its face and down both edges. Check it against its photo, then move on.
Any cover among the eight that tips across its post, or that keeps one end in the air, is better left with its liner on. Lay it on a clean towel and phone us at 877-752-3811 before going further. Once the tape is fully cured, car soap, water and a soft towel are all the eight require.
