Lay the covers out on a clean towel and match all eight to the photos. Check every piece against the photos, and call before you start if one is bent or missing.
Prepare the surface on a dry, shaded day. Wash the pillar faces with mild car soap, rinse and dry. Wipe each with isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth and let it evaporate. Remove wax or ceramic coating wherever a cover will sit.
Map the job before peeling anything. Hold each cover in place with its liner on, line up the edges and mark them with painter's tape. Pencil the location on the liner so the pieces don't get mixed up.
Work on the X3 covers two by two. Peel one cover, place it on its marks, and press firmly along the full length and both edges. Fit the next cover, then step back and check before moving on. A helper looking along the X3 makes this easier.
