Prepare the paint

Several parts at once
If you're fitting the rear window accents too, install the higher pieces first and the tailgate last, so you aren't leaning on fresh tape.
Upkeep
Give it a few days before washing. Mild soap and a soft cloth; keep pressure washer spray off the edges. Solid 304 steel has no plating to peel.
Decorative
It replaces nothing, and the tailgate opens, closes and latches exactly as it did before the accent went on.
