Construction
The fourteen RX330, RX350 and RX400h pieces, upper trim and sills, are cut by QAA in the USA from polished 26 gauge 304 stainless steel. They attach over the existing surface with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, which QAA says will hold for a lifetime without harming the Lexus.
Three boxes' worth on the bench
With the separate pillar kit on hand, set out the upper pieces, the sills and the pillar pieces as three groups, each ordered by door. Hold everything up to the RX next to the photos before marking positions on the liners. If the pillar kit and the upper trim don't look as though they meet, call before going further.
Prep
- Remove any leftover tape or wax from frame tops, pillars and sill ledges
- Wash and dry the SUV
- Wax-and-grease remover, then isopropyl alcohol, just before each piece
Installing with the pillar kit
Each door gets its upper piece first, then the pillar pieces from the separate kit, then its sill. Test every piece with the liner still in place and painter's tape at the ends, and close the door gently to check clearance. Bond by lifting a little liner, seating the end and pressing along.
Aftercare
Leave the RX unwashed for a day, then clean with mild soap and a soft cloth. If anything doesn't line up with the photos, keep its liner on and phone 877-752-3811.
