The fuel door is a small, self-contained spot for a little polish. GC37245 is a single overlay of mirror-finished 304 stainless steel cut for that door on the 1997, 1998 and 1999 Cadillac DeVille 4-door sedan. Old paint, new trim
Adhesive is only as strong as the surface under it. On a car this age, examine the fuel door's paint carefully for fading, thin spots at the edges, lifting clear coat or bubbling, and repair anything doubtful. Confirm the door shuts flush.
The process
Scrub the face clean, rinse, and degrease until the cloth stays clean; dry. Shut the door, rest the trim on it with the liner attached, and slide it until the paint frame around it is even. A friend holding it while you look from a distance helps. Put painter's tape on the body as a marker. Peel, place, and press hard everywhere. Repeat the press after a minute. Weather, then upkeep
