Product Description
2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala Sedan Stainless Fuel Door Trim (GC40135)
If you own a 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala 4-door sedan and want a small dose of bright metal without committing to a full side kit, the fuel door is a sensible place to begin. GC40135 is a single overlay of polished 304 stainless steel, cut to sit on the face of the existing door. It is 26 gauge sheet, made in the USA, and ships with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so there are no brackets, screws or holes involved.
One point needs to be clear before anything else. This is not a replacement cap and not a replacement part. You MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece, because the trim bonds to the outside of that door rather than taking its place.
Fitment. The Fitment tab carries a single row: Chevrolet Impala, 2000 through 2005, 4-door sedan. That is six model years. If your car falls outside that span, call before you order.
Other Impala pieces in the catalog. Several parts are cross-listed for the same sedan, which makes it easy to plan more trim over time; check each listing for its finish. LP40135 is a one-piece license plate bezel. PP40135 is a four-piece pillar post set, while PP40136 is a six-piece set whose note reads "Rear Triangles only," so read that listing closely before choosing between them. TH40135 is an eight-piece upper rocker kit at 3.5 inches that spans from the bottom of the molding down to the specified width, and WS40135 is a four-piece window sill set.
How it attaches. GC40135 installs directly over the existing surface. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. The bond depends on the paint underneath. On a car of this age, check for chalky or faded clear coat, chips along the edge, or areas where polishing has worn the paint thin, and fix anything questionable before you start.
Putting it on. Wash the door with mild soap and water, rinse it, and let it dry completely, then wipe the face with a degreaser until the cloth comes away clean. With the backing still in place, hold the trim against the closed door and shift it until the gap of paint showing around it looks even on every side. Mark the spot with painter's tape. Peel the liner, line up with your marks, set it down in one motion, and press firmly over the entire surface. Give it a second firm press after a minute or so, then open the door gently to make sure it swings freely. The Installation tab has more detail.
Finish and care. The polished 304 surface is bright and reflective, and the thin 26 gauge sheet keeps the profile low on the door. Install on a mild, dry day and let the tape set overnight before the car sees rain. After that, wash it with gentle soap and a soft cloth, and wipe away any fuel that drips on it while filling up.

Installation tips: Gas Door Cover Trim
- Confirm your vehicle still has its original gas door. This trim mounts over it and does not replace it.
- Unpack the piece and hold it in position to confirm the fit before mounting it.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Step back and check alignment before pressing along the full length of the piece.
These are general tips. Follow any instructions packed with your kit if they differ.
