Product Description
Chevrolet Impala 2014-2020 Sedan Polished Gas Door Trim, Not for Impala Limited (GC54135)
The Fitment tab for GC54135 contains a warning as well as a vehicle. It lists the Chevrolet Impala 4-door sedan from 2014 through 2020, seven model years, with the note "Does not fit the Limited." So if your car is badged Impala Limited, this isn't the right listing, even though the years may overlap. Every cross-listed Impala part on this sheet carries the same exclusion.
The trim is one piece of polished 304 stainless steel, 26 gauge, made in the USA, and ships with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape. It is not a replacement cap and not a replacement part. You MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece; it's a cover for the face of the door you already have.
The companion list is long, and two of the entries need a closer read. There are two mirror cover sets with the same piece count: MC54135, a two-piece set noted as a "Snap on replacement set," and MC54136, also two pieces, with no note. The catalog doesn't spell out how MC54136 differs beyond that, so compare the photos or call before choosing. The other described parts are DH54135, an eight-piece door handle cover kit; HL54135, a two-piece headlight accent trim; LP54135, a one-piece license plate bezel; and PP54135 and PP54136, four- and six-piece pillar sets, the additional pair undescribed. RB54135, RD54135, TH54135, WQ54135, WQ54136, DH54135B and DH54137B round out the list by number only.
That snap-on note is worth noticing because it's a different style of mounting from this gas door trim. The gas door piece doesn't snap on; it installs directly over the existing surface with tape, and there's no drilling. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle.
Because the tape bonds to paint, the paint needs to be sound. Examine the gas door for faded, peeling or hazy clear coat, chips at the edge and bubbles, and repair them before you begin. The door should also close flush with the body.
When you're ready, clean the door with soapy water, rinse and dry it, and wipe the face with degreaser until the cloth stays clean. Close the door, place the trim with the liner still on, and nudge it until the paint around it forms an even border; mark the spot with painter's tape. Peel the liner, set the trim down on your marks, and press firmly over its full face, then again after a minute. Open the door gently to check it clears. The Installation tab has the step-by-step version.
Polished 304 stainless gives the door a bright, reflective accent, and the thin 26 gauge sheet sits close to the panel. Fit it on a mild, dry day and let it set overnight before any water. After that, clean with mild soap and a soft cloth, and wipe away fuel drips.

Installation tips: Gas Door Cover Trim
- Confirm your vehicle still has its original gas door. This trim mounts over it and does not replace it.
- Unpack the piece and hold it in position to confirm the fit before mounting it.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Step back and check alignment before pressing along the full length of the piece.
These are general tips. Follow any instructions packed with your kit if they differ.
