The door should close flush.
Installing. Wash with soap and water, rinse, dry, and degrease the door face. Do the notch-first dry fit, then mark the position with painter's tape. Peel the liner, set the trim with the notch at the grip, and press firmly across the face and along the notch edge. Press again after a minute. Finish and care. The Ram's overlay is polished 304 stainless, reflective and thin at 26 gauge. Fit it on a mild, dry day and give the tape the night to set. Clean with mild soap and a soft cloth, and wipe fuel drips off.
