The four covers are cosmetic. Each one lies over a post beside the side glass, and the doors, windows and weatherstrip keep working as they always have. Type 304 stainless resists corrosion through its own composition, not plating.
Fitting is with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, bonding each cover to the post's existing paint or trim. The Ford, Lincoln or Mercury doesn't get drilled, and no trim comes off. The Installation tab lists the temperature range and cure time.
Give the tape a firm, clean surface. Remove wax and polish from the four posts, and repair any chalky, crazed or lifting paint before you start. Wash with car soap, rinse, dry fully, then wipe each with rubbing alcohol on lint-free cloths, refolding until a fresh section picks up nothing. Look for dents or old filler at the same time, since polished stainless will show either one.
Lay out a bucket of car-soap water, rubbing alcohol, a few lint-free cloths, painter's tape and a pencil. If a second person can watch from a few steps away, alignment gets a good deal easier to judge.
On a calm, dry day in shade, check the four against the gallery and contact us about anything bent or missing. Liner on, try a cover on the post its photo shows, shift it until the gap is even and run painter's tape around it. Peel, set the cover inside the tape and press firmly along its length and both edges. Compare it with its photo before the next.
