The twelve Corolla pieces, upper trim and window sills, are USA-made polished 26 gauge 304 stainless steel set over the existing surface with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without harming the Toyota.
Twelve pieces, two groups
Window tops in one pile, sills in another, each ordered by door. Walk round the Corolla holding each one where the photos show it, then pencil its spot on the liner.
Getting the surfaces ready
The tape needs clean, sound paint. Scrape away any old adhesive, strip off wax and check for flaking paint on the frame tops and sills. Wash, dry, and just before each piece goes on, give its strip a wipe with a wax-and-grease remover and then isopropyl alcohol.
Top first, sill second
On every door the window top goes on before the sill. Lay each piece in place with its liner still attached, mark its ends with painter's tape and shut the door slowly to see that nothing catches. Then peel back a short length of liner, press that end down, and keep going until the whole piece is bonded. A quick look along the car after each door keeps the lines straight.
