Product Description
Chevrolet Malibu 2016-2018 Chrome ABS Grille Overlay, 2 Pieces (SGC56105)
SGC56105 is a chrome plated ABS plastic grille overlay in two pieces for the Chevrolet Malibu sedan, model years 2016, 2017 and 2018. It's imported and sits outside QAA's polished stainless line, so the notes below are about plated plastic and about the questions this listing leaves open.
Material, stated plainly
The listing reads "High Quality Chrome Plated ABS Plastic - Imported." ABS is a rigid plastic; the bright face is plating. It is not stainless steel, it isn't listed as made in the USA, and no adhesive tape or thickness is given.
Malibu years and body
2016 through 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 4-door sedan. The record lists no trim exclusions, but Malibu grilles can differ between trims and the data doesn't say whether every trim was checked. A quick look at the photos beside your own car is the best first test.
Two pieces, layout in the photos
The kit holds two pieces. No sizes or positions are recorded; the product photos show which part goes where.
"Insert" and mounting
One bullet says only "Insert." Another says "Easy installation! Cut to perfection & Polished to a Mirror Shine." Neither describes how the overlay is held on. Before you order, call Quality Automotive Trims at 877-752-3811 and we'll explain the attachment and whether anything else is needed.
Nothing linked
No other parts are tied to this record. If you'd like more trim for your Malibu, we can look up what QAA lists while we're talking.
Choosing plated plastic
Plated ABS is light and holds a molded shape well, which suits grille sections with curves and openings. It looks like chrome from a few feet away. What it can't do is take a polish the way steel can; once plating is scratched through, it stays scratched. If that matters to you, ask whether a steel option exists for your car.
Preparing the grille
Wash the grille with mild soap, rinse the openings, and dry everything. Wipe off wax or trim dressing where the overlay will sit; slick residue can keep pieces from seating.
Rehearse the fit
Hold both pieces in place by hand before fixing either. Step back to the front of the car and compare left with right. If they don't look even, recheck the photos before going further.
Handling
Hold the pieces by their edges and lay them face-up on a soft towel between steps. Keep screwdrivers and keys away from the plated faces.
Living with it
Hand-wash with a soft mitt. Avoid compound, metal polish, abrasive pads and harsh wheel cleaners. Keep a pressure washer nozzle well back from the grille.
Winter and summer
Plastic stiffens in the cold and softens slightly in heat. Fit the pieces at a comfortable room temperature for the easiest job.
What we'll ask you
Your year, your trim, and whether the grille is the one the car came with. If you can, send a straight-on photo. With those, we can confirm SGC56105 suits your Malibu and walk you through the mounting.
