No drilling. It installs directly over the existing surface. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. Since the tape bonds to paint, check the door for fading, peeling clear coat, chipped edges, or bubbles, and repair those before installing. Confirm it closes flush.
The steps. Wash, rinse, and dry the door, then wipe it with degreaser. Test the placement with the liner on, sliding the trim until the paint margin is even on all sides, and mark it with painter's tape.
