Placing the trim
With the fuel door closed, rest the trim on it with the liner still attached. Check the margin all around the edge; it should look even. Mark a reference point or two with painter's tape. Peel the liner and press the trim down firmly from the center outward, covering every bit of the face. Press again a minute later. Open and close the door to be sure it moves freely. On an older 4Runner
