Seven model years of the Toyota Prius 4-door hatchback, 2016 through 2022, are covered by GC16135. It's one piece of polished 304 stainless steel at 26 gauge, made in the USA, that covers the face of the fuel door. The it mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape.
You'll keep the original door
To be completely clear: GC16135 is not a replacement cap and not a replacement part. You MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece. The trim mounts on top of it.

How it goes on
The Prius trim sits right over the hatchback's fuel door with no drilling. Per QAA, the tape will hold for a lifetime without harming the vehicle's surface.
- Wash the face of the fuel door and rinse it.
- Wipe on degreaser, then wait for it to dry.
- With the door closed and the liner on, find the position that leaves an even border.
- Mark it on the body with painter's tape.
- Peel, line it up, and press firmly across the whole face; a minute later, press once more.
- Open and close the door slowly to confirm it clears.

Paint condition
The tape bonds to the paint on the door face. If that paint is flaking or the clear coat is lifting, the trim can only hold as well as the layer beneath it, so repair the surface first.
Getting the margin right
On a small, flat part, the border between the trim and the edge of the door is what the eye notices. Before you peel anything, look at it straight on and from a few steps toward the rear. If one side looks wider, shift it slightly. A minute spent here is the difference between a piece that looks deliberate and one that looks off.

- Unpack the piece and hold it in position to confirm the fit before mounting it.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Step back and check alignment before pressing along the full length of the piece.
