Chevrolet Equinox 2018-2024 Polished Stainless Gas Door Trim (GC58160)
GC58160 is the fuel door accent listed for the Chevrolet Equinox 4-door SUV from 2018 through 2024, seven model years on one Fitment row. One polished piece of 304 stainless, 26 gauge and made in the USA, forms the Equinox trim. The Equinox piece sticks on by way of 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape.
It is not a replacement cap and not a replacement part. You MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece. The stainless is bonded to the Equinox's existing fuel door and doesn't replace it.
A couple of the cross-listed Equinox parts have notes that change how you'd picture them. TH58160, an eight-piece upper rocker kit at 1 inch, spans from the bottom of the cladding up to the specified width, so it's measured from the cladding rather than from a molding. GC58160 installs directly over the existing surface, so there's no drilling. QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. Since the tape bonds to the paint, the paint needs to be in good order. Check the fuel door for peeling, faded or cloudy clear coat, chips on its edges, and bubbles, and repair them before installing. The door should close flush with the body.
On installation day, wash the door with soap and water, rinse, and dry it. Then go over the face with degreaser until a clean cloth wipes clean. Close the door and hold the trim against it without removing the liner, shifting it until the paint showing around its edge is the same width all the way round. Mark the spot with painter's tape on the body. Peel the liner, bring the trim to your marks, and press it firmly over its entire face; give it another firm press after a minute. Polished 304 stainless has a bright, reflective surface, and 26 gauge sheet keeps it close to the door. Choose a mild, dry day to install and keep the SUV dry overnight while the tape sets. Upkeep is mild soap, a soft cloth and a quick wipe of any fuel splashes.
