Prep. Gather painter's tape, a pencil, rubbing alcohol, car-soap water and a good stack of lint-free cloths. Take wax, sealant and polish off all six posts, working one post at a time. Repair paint that's powdery, cracked or peeling, since the tape holds only as well as that coat. Wash, rinse and dry each post, finish with rubbing alcohol until a fresh fold of cloth comes up clean, and run a fingertip along for dents.
Fitting. First, on a calm, dry day out of the sun, lay out the six with the gallery and report any damage at once. Second, pair each cover with a post and mark a number there on tape. Third, liner on, hold one cover up, ease it until the margin is even and trace it in tape. Fourth, peel, set it inside the tracing and press hard end to end and along both edges. Step back to check the margin and both edges before fitting the next.
