Getting the surface ready
- Wash the Volvo's lower doors, then rinse thoroughly.
- Use a wax-and-grease remover to strip old wax and polish all the way up to the molding.
- Repair chips, rust or lifting paint first; tape only holds to sound paint.
- Alcohol-wipe each Volvo door just as its piece goes on.
Trial placement
Hold each piece up with painter's tape so its top meets the molding and its bottom meets the door edge. Open and close every door.
