Before you begin
Open and close the fuel door; it should move freely and sit flush. Check the paint on its face. Chips, fading or lifting clear coat need repair first, because the tape bonds directly to the paint.
Cleaning
Soap and water, a thorough rinse, and a degreaser wipe until the cloth comes away clean. Then let it dry fully.
Positioning
Door shut, liner on, trim in place. Move it until the band of paint around it is equal on all sides, ideally with a helper holding it while you look from a few steps back. Mark one corner on the body with painter's tape.
Sticking it down
Peel the liner, line up with the mark, and press firmly over the whole face. Press again after a minute. Open the door slowly to make sure it clears. The Installation tab has full steps.
Finish
Polished 304 stainless with a bright, mirror-like surface; 26 gauge is thin sheet that keeps the overlay low on a door that has to close flush.
Weather and care
Mild, dry weather; keep it dry overnight. Gentle soap and a soft cloth afterward; wipe off fuel drips.
Choosing a first piece
With four pillar sets and several rear pieces to choose from, the gas door is the simplest place to start. It's one flat part and independent of every other choice.
Front pillar note
If you want the front pillar behind the mirror covered as well, PP29158 is the only Venza pillar set whose note says it includes that piece. The smaller sets don't mention it, so the photos will show whether they stop short of it.
