It installs directly over the existing surface, so there's no drilling, and QAA states the tape will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface of the vehicle. Check the paint on the fuel door first, since the tape bonds to it. Peeling, hazy or blistered clear coat and chipped edges should be repaired, and the door should close flush.
To fit it, clean the door with soap and water, rinse, dry and degrease. With the liner still on, set the trim on the closed door and move it until an even outline of paint shows around it. Mark the position with painter's tape. Peel the liner, line up, and press firmly over the whole trim, then again after a minute. Open the door slowly to check it clears. On the 2020-2026 CT5, polished 304 looks bright and reflective, and the 26 gauge sheet keeps it slim. Choose a mild, dry day and let the tape set overnight. Clean it with mild soap and a soft cloth, and wipe fuel drips away.
