Material
The D21 short bed's twelve pieces are USA-made, polished 26 gauge 304 stainless steel, bonded over the existing paint with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape. QAA says that tape will hold for a lifetime without harming the truck.
Cleaning around the molding
Dirt and wax collect where the molding meets the paint. Wash, then strip wax with a wax-and-grease remover, working right up to the molding edge. Repair rust or chipped paint, and wipe with isopropyl alcohol last.
Twelve pieces
Lay the Hardbody pieces out, match each to the photos, and label the liners.
Fitting
Dry fit each piece between the molding and the door bottom, and open every door. Then bond it with short liner peels and firm pressure. Do one door first and check the edges before continuing.
Rest of the twelve
Keep the spacing even on every D21 piece.
Conditions
Pick a mild, dry, shaded day for the Hardbody and wait a day before washing.
If the molding is missing
Without a molding there is no top edge for a Full Kit to meet. In that case the Short Bed Lower Kit, TH87518, works up from the door bottom instead. Send us a photo of the side if you are unsure which one suits your truck, and we can talk it through.
