A word on pillar trim
Every car has pillars, the upright sections between and around the side glass. PP17088's four covers are each shaped to one of those surfaces, putting a bright line down the side of the XE. It is purely cosmetic: it sits on the face of the pillar and leaves the structure as it is. That's also why the install is a cleaning and pressing job rather than a mechanical one.
Construction
The covers are cut from 26 gauge 304 stainless steel, polished and made in the USA. With no plated layer on top, the bright finish is the steel itself. Each one bonds with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape directly over the existing surface. You won't drill, and you won't remove any part of the car.
Preparation
Choose a dry, mild day and a shaded place. Wash the pillar areas with a gentle shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Dry them, then wipe each spot with isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth and let it flash off. Remove any wax, polish or ceramic coating where the tape will sit; tape bonds to a clean surface, not to a coating.
Fitting
Use the photos to find where each XE cover goes. Holding the first with its liner on, check that it follows the pillar edges, then frame its position with painter's tape. Repeat for each. Peel one liner, line the cover up with your marks, and press firmly along its whole length and both edges. Fit the next cover and compare. Temperature range and cure time are on the Installation tab.
Help and care
Count the covers on arrival and call if anything is bent or missing. During the dry-fit, if a cover won't sit flat or seems not to belong, keep its liner on and phone 877-752-3811. After the cure, wash with ordinary car soap.
