Kia Optima Sedan 2016-2020 Polished Stainless Gas Door Trim (GC16805)
GC16805 is a polished stainless cover for the fuel door of the Kia Optima 4-door sedan, model years 2016 through 2020. For the Optima, it's a single 26 gauge 304 stainless piece, made in the USA. Mounting the Optima trim uses 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape.

This is not a replacement cap or a replacement part. You MUST have the existing gas door to install this piece. It sits on the door's outer face as a decorative accent.

The Optima's matching trim is unusually varied
Beyond the usual pillars and rockers, this sedan's sheet includes some less common pieces:
- PB16805: two-piece porthole accent trim, surround ring only, no center strip.
- RI16805: two-piece roof insert trim, 0.625 inches.

Mounting method
On the 2016-2020 Optima, the trim fits over the existing gas door surface, with no holes and no clips. Per QAA, the tape will hold for a lifetime without harming the sedan's surface.
Door check
Open and close the fuel door a few times. It should swing freely and close flush with the body. Sound paint on its face matters, since the tape bonds right to it.
Installing GC16805
Wash, rinse, degrease, and dry the door face. Hold the trim on the closed door with the liner still on. Shift it until the border is even all around and mark the position on the body with painter's tape. Peel the liner, align, and press firmly across the entire piece, then again after a minute. Open and close the door gently to make sure nothing rubs. The Installation tab has full instructions.
Centering tip
The border between the trim and the edge of the fuel door is what people notice, so it's worth getting even. After the dry fit, step back a few feet and look straight at it. If one side looks wider, nudge it. A helper holding the piece while you look makes this easier. Mark the final spot before peeling so you aren't guessing once the adhesive is exposed.
Conditions
Dry weather and mild temperatures work best. Leave it dry overnight.
Care
A soft cloth with mild soap handles cleaning; wipe away fuel drips once you've filled up.
A starting point

- Unpack the piece and hold it in position to confirm the fit before mounting it.
- Each piece mounts with 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, so clean and dry the mounting surface first; the tape needs paint or trim free of dirt and wax.
- Align the piece and press it firmly into place directly over the existing surface, working along its full length so the tape bonds evenly.
- Step back and check alignment before pressing along the full length of the piece.
