Surface prep
The adhesive only grips as well as the paint it's stuck to. Wash the fuel door face, rinse, and wipe with degreaser to remove wax and road film. Let it dry completely. If the paint is chipped or lifting, repair that first.
Placement and pressing
Close the door and hold the trim in place, liner still on. Look at the border on every side and adjust until it's even. Step back and check again, then mark the position on the body with painter's tape. Peel the liner, line up with the mark, and press firmly across the whole face. Press again after a minute. 304 stainless, polished to a bright mirror finish. Gauge measures thickness, and 26 gauge is a thin sheet, which keeps the overlay slim on a door that has to swing open and shut against the body. Made in the USA.
