A thin strip has less tape, so the bond depends on a truly clean surface. Wash and dry the gate, wipe with a residue-free cleaner, and avoid touching the cleaned area with your fingers.
Keeping it straight

Care
Wait a few days to wash. Mild soap and a soft cloth keep the polish bright. Dry the gate after washing so water does not spot the mirror face.
Planning a full rear
With a bumper accent, license bar, bezel, and rear window trim all linked, the Rogue's back end can carry trim from the glass to the bumper; check each finish. Install from the top down. The window trim and this liftgate strip set the lines, and the license pieces and bumper accent can then be centered by eye against them. Lay all the parts out before you peel a single liner.
