Construction
Ten 1.5 inch strips of 26 gauge 304 stainless steel, polished, made in the USA. Mounting is 3M automotive-grade acrylic foam tape, installed directly over the existing surface; no drilling. For MI49311, follow the Installation tab's prep section. The record doesn't assign each strip a position; the photos do.
Before you begin
Walk around the truck and check every molding. Cracks, lifting ends and leftover adhesive need dealing with first, since the tape bonds only to a sound, clean surface. Measure across one molding's flat face and compare it with 1.5 inches and the photos.
Install
Wash, dry and alcohol-wipe the moldings. Lay out the ten strips by the photos and number the liners. Dry-fit each with the liner on, keeping ends near the flares clear unless the photos show otherwise, and mark both ends with painter's tape. Peel, place and press firmly. A few strips, then sight along them from the front, then the rest. A helper makes the dry fit easier. The Installation tab gives the temperature range for the tape.
Timing and weather
Tape installs go best on a dry, mild day with the truck parked out of the rain. Take your time laying out all ten strips, and hold off on the truck's first wash for a while after they're on. A slow, careful dry fit gives you the straightest line.
Gas door and mirror covers
GC49308 is a 1-piece gas door cover trim. MC49307 is a 2-piece mirror cover set, top half only, and MC49310 is a 4-piece full hybrid mirror cover kit with a removable piece for the turn signal cut out when applicable.
